When the AC quits in a Michigan July, comfort and safety are on the line. Oak Grove diagnoses and repairs central and ductless air conditioning fast, and never upsells a system you do not need.
Most AC failures come down to a handful of causes: low refrigerant from a leak, a failed capacitor or contactor, a frozen coil, a bad blower or a clogged condensate line. Oak Grove finds the real fault and fixes it, so you are not paying for guesswork.
We have cooled Livingston and Oakland county homes since 1995. If a repair will get you comfortable again, that is what we do. If the system is old and failing, we tell you honestly and lay out the options.
What we repair
Central air, ductless mini-splits and heat pumps. Weak cooling, warm air, short cycling, ice on the lines, loud operation, or a unit that will not start. We test the refrigerant charge, electrical components and airflow, then fix the cause.
Refrigerant leaks done right
Low refrigerant means a leak, not a system that needs a top-up every year. We find and repair the leak, then charge the system correctly, so the fix actually lasts.
Beat the July rush
The hottest week of the year is the worst time to wait for a repair. If your AC is struggling, call the OG early. We keep you cool and, when it is time, plan a replacement before the heat forces your hand.
How we track down an AC fault
Air conditioning problems usually announce themselves in one of a few ways: warm air from the vents, weak airflow, ice on the copper lines, a unit that hums but will not start, or one that runs constantly and never satisfies the thermostat. Each of those points at a different cause, so we start by watching how the system behaves rather than guessing.
From there we check the capacitor and contactor, measure the refrigerant charge, inspect the coil and condensate drain, and confirm the blower is moving the air it should. A frozen coil, for instance, is a symptom, not the disease, and it usually traces back to low refrigerant or restricted airflow. We fix the actual cause so the problem does not come straight back.
Refrigerant, the honest version
If your AC is low on refrigerant, it has a leak. Refrigerant is not fuel that burns off, so a system that needs a top-up every summer is a system with a leak nobody has repaired. Adding more each year is money spent to postpone the same failure and, on older R-22 systems, it is expensive money.
We find and fix the leak, then charge the system to the correct level, so the repair actually holds. If the unit is old, uses R-22, and the leak is in the coil, we will tell you plainly when repair stops making sense and replacement is the better spend. You get the math, not a sales pitch.
Getting ahead of the July rush
The worst time for an AC to fail is the first stretch of ninety-degree days, which is also when every HVAC phone in the county is ringing. A system that struggled through June rarely improves on its own. If yours is cooling weakly, cycling oddly or making new noises, calling early gets you seen before the rush and often turns a small repair into an easy one.
For a system that is clearly near the end, planning the replacement in spring or fall beats being forced into a rushed decision during a heat wave. We would rather help you plan it than sell you an emergency.

AC Repair questions
Why is my AC blowing warm air?
Common causes are low refrigerant from a leak, a tripped breaker, a failed capacitor or a frozen coil. We diagnose the exact cause on site and repair it properly.
How much does AC repair cost?
It depends on the fault, from a modest capacitor replacement to a refrigerant leak repair. We give you an upfront price before any work, so there are no surprises.
Should I repair or replace my air conditioner?
If the unit is under about ten to twelve years old and the repair is reasonable, repair. If it uses old R-22 refrigerant or fails repeatedly, replacement is usually the better value. We tell you straight.
